The Contributor Sidebar is a great tool for admins and contributors to capture feedback and ideas within other platforms. Both admins and contributors have access to this feature. See this article for more info on the Contributor Sidebar.
What is the Contributor Sidebar?
The UserVoice contributor sidebar is a bookmarklet which can be opened on top of any web page or app. This will allow you to capture feedback from your customers and associate it with ideas in UserVoice.
How do I Install the Sidebar?
For newly invited contributors, you will receive an email with a link to create your account and access the contributor console. Once within the console, you can click your profile (top-right corner), and select Install Sidebar. Opening that link will take you to the UserVoice Contributor Sidebar installation page.
Admins can also access their Sidebar installation page within their admin console by going to Settings → Sidebar → click the direct link to take them to the Install page.
Alternatively, you can replace the UserVoice URL with your own and go straight to the installation page → https://{subdomain}.uservoice.com/sidebar/install
Follow the instructions on the installation page to add the Sidebar as a bookmark in your browser.
- Click the "Install Bookmarklet" button to copy the link to your clipboard.
- Dependent upon your browser, add the code to your bookmarks via a URL field.
That's it - you're done! You can now click the sidebar bookmark to open it on top of any web page. Now that you have it set up, let's walk you through how to use it. This document will explain the basics.
Common Questions
Q: Why does the sidebar load in a new window?A: If the website you are on blocks unknown scripts from loading, the pop up will open in a new window. This is true for websites like Salesforce Lightning, Twitter, Github, and Intercom.
Note: The pop up is not supported with FireFox, so if you are on one of those sites, you will need to use a different browser.
