Linking Feedback to Ideas
Link feedback to an Idea
You will need to link the feedback to an existing idea or create a new idea to link it to. If you create a new idea on behalf of a user, the idea you create will show you as the creator, and be visible to anyone with access to the forum. If this idea gets a status update, you'll receive a notification so you can follow up with the customer. If you subscribe the customer to an idea, they will see it in their list of supported ideas. When the status of the idea is updated by an admin in UserVoice, they can choose to send an email notification to the subscribed customers.
Viewing Status Updates on Ideas
To view status updates in the Sidebar, click the menu icon in the top left of the sidebar and then choose "Status Updates". You'll be able to view updates for ideas you've captured feedback for or are subscribed to ("My Updates"), or for all ideas ("All Updates").
Viewing Users and Accounts
If your Product Team has synced over user's account data
to UserVoice, you will have the ability to view all feedback submitted by users connected to an account.
- Click the "hamburger" icon from the top left of the sidebar, and search for the company name.
- When you click into a particular account, you can see all ideas supported by users connected to the account along with all feedback shared.
Pro Tip: You can also use the same search to view all feedback and ideas given by an individual user by searching their username or email address.
Q: Why does the sidebar load in a new window?
A: If the website you are on blocks unknown scripts from loading, the pop up will open in a new window. This is true for websites like Salesforce Lightning, Twitter, Github, and Intercom.
Note: The pop up is not supported with FireFox, so if you are on one of those sites, you will need to use a different browser.
Q: Can I set the default forum that the sidebar points to?
A: Yes! To do so, change your "Default forum" setting in the admin console, from "Settings" - "General" - "Ideas" - "Default forum".
Q: How do I see other feedback the user has given?
A: Click the "View this person's existing feedback" link under their email field to see other ideas, comments, and feedback captured from this user.
Q: Can I hide the sidebar?
A: Click the minimize icon in the top right corner, and it will become a small square icon in the top corner of your browser page.
Q: I went to a new page, and the sidebar is missing?
A: Click the bookmark, and it will re-open the contributor sidebar on the page
