You can use the Contributor Sidebar to capture customer feedback and share it with your Product Team. Within the Sidebar, you can also view existing feedback and status updates. Learn more about the sidebar here.

Capturing Feedback
Enter the user's email addressYou can also search for a user, or click the email field and choose from one of the email addresses listed.
Enter their feedback
In this field, enter the customer's feedback using their words if possible. This text will only be visible to admins within UserVoice.
Pro Tip: If you highlight the customer's feedback before opening the sidebar, the text will pre-populate in the feedback field.
Linking Feedback to Ideas
Link feedback to an Idea
You will need to link the feedback to an existing idea or create a new idea to link it to. If you create a new idea on behalf of a user, the idea you create will show you as the creator, and be visible to anyone with access to the forum.
If this idea gets a status update, you'll receive a notification so you can follow up with the customer. To learn how to manage your notification preferences, check out this article.

If you subscribe the customer to an idea, they will see it in their list of supported ideas. When the status of the idea is updated by an admin in UserVoice, they can choose to send an email notification to the subscribed customers.
Viewing Status Updates on Ideas
Viewing Users and Accounts
If your Product Team has synced over user's account data to UserVoice, you will have the ability to view all feedback submitted by users connected to an account.
- Click the "hamburger" icon in the top left, and search for the company name.
- When you click into a particular account, you can see all ideas supported by users connected to the account along with all feedback shared.
- If you click "Capture Customer Feedback" from the Accounts Page, it will give you a list of all the user's connected to that account to choose from when capturing the feedback.
Pro Tip: You can also use the same search to view all feedback and ideas given by an individual user by searching their username or email address.
Common Questions
Q: Why does the sidebar load in a new window?A: If the website you are on blocks unknown scripts from loading, the pop up will open in a new window. This is true for websites like Salesforce Lightning, Twitter, Github, and Intercom.
Note: The pop up is not supported with FireFox, so if you are on one of those sites, you will need to use a different browser.
Q: How do I see other feedback the user has given?
A: Click the "View this person's existing feedback" link under their email field to see other ideas, comments, and feedback captured from this user.
Q: Can I hide the sidebar?
A: Click the minimize icon in the top right corner, and it will become a small square icon in the top corner of your browser page.
Q: I went to a new page, and the sidebar is missing?
A: Click the bookmark, and it will re-open the contributor sidebar on the page
