You're trying to search for an idea, and you feel like it's not returning results you're expecting? Use this article to reference the differences in functionality.
How Search in the Idea Grid Works
Introducing “Concept Search” – a powerful new feature in the UserVoice Admin Console that goes beyond traditional keyword search. With Concept Search, you can now effortlessly find Ideas related to specific or broad topics, making it easier than ever to discover and analyze relevant feedback. Whether you’re exploring new themes or delving into particular subjects, Concept Search helps you uncover valuable insights to inform your product decisions. Enhance your feedback analysis with this innovative tool and drive your product forward with confidence.
Similar to the functionality in the Web Portal, this search function will also search the title and description of current and merged ideas.
To achieve "best text match", or to broaden your search further, we recommend using search operators to find the specific ideas you are seeking, beginning your phrase with a :
.
When you have a large dataset of ideas, we highly recommend initially narrowing down your search using filters before jumping into a text based search.
Note: Search in the Admin Console does not take 'Stop Words' into account.
How Search Works on the Web Portal
The Web Portal also makes use of Concept Search to return Ideas that match content and themes of previously submitted Ideas. When searching for Ideas, the search function will search the title and description for any of the words you've entered. Comments are not searchable.
Time It Takes to Return Results
If a search takes longer than 4 seconds to retrieve results, the search will revert to a 'keyword' search to speed up search times. Keyword search returns Ideas based on the number of times each of the words appear, giving more weight to words in the Idea's title.
For example, if you search "add more search options," it will return an idea or article that has "search" OR "option" in it, giving more weight to ones with those words in the title.
