Custom questions on ideas are a great way to gather more information on ideas for internal use, when captured through the Contributor Extension. With custom questions, you can ask contributors for specific additional information when they are creating new ideas.
Setting up Custom Questions
From the Idea Grid
- On the idea grid, select your settings in the top right-hand corner, then the "Custom Fields" category.
- This will link out to the Custom Fields settings page
From Settings
- Click the icon in the bottom left corner and select "General Settings."
- Click "Ideas"
- Click "Configure" next to Custom Fields
Creating Custom Fields
- Choose to create or edit Custom Fields
- In the Create/Edit dialog, click "Enable" on "Make this a question"
- Enter the question you want to appear in the extension
- Choose whether the question is optional or required
Edit Custom Questions
Editing and deleting custom questions are done so through the Custom Field.
- Edit the custom field to change custom question language and required/optional
- Delete the custom field to remove the custom question from the Extension.\
* Admin must have "edit account settings" permissions to be able to create/edit custom fields and questions
Using Custom Questions
To use custom questions, create your ideas with the Chrome Contributor Extension. You'll be guided through two steps: entering basic idea information (Title, Forum, Category, Description) and then answering the custom questions.
FAQ
Q: What happens when I assign an admin to an idea using the admin select field type for a custom question?
A: The admin selected will receive a notification email that they have been assigned to a specific idea. If you are selecting yourself, you will not receive a notification.
Q: Am I able to edit the custom question after it is has been created?
A: Yes, you can edit custom questions by editing the custom field and changing your question.
