Team Chat (previously Internal Comments)
Create or view comments made by admins for other admins. These comments are not available for end-users and contributors as they are only accessed within the Admin Console.
This functionality allows you to:
- Use @mentions to tag other admin(s) when creating an internal comment. Create a mention by using the @ symbol and then start typing in the admin's name. This will create a drop-down list of admins beginning with those letters. Either select that user's name or type their name out fully.
- Use attachments and formatting tools to create better and more impactful messages
- Edit or Delete your message if you make a mistake
- Create a thread by replying to a specific message
- Be notified in-app and via email notifications of tagged internal comments.
Note: if tagging yourself, you will not be notified.
Public Comments
Use public comments to make a comment on an idea for the web portal as an admin. All end-users can see this comment in the comment feed.
Note: Admin comments are not pinned to the top of the comment feed. If you have an announcement or important communication to provide to end-users in regards to this idea, we suggest sending out a public status or sending an email to subscribed users.
FAQ
Q: I tagged an admin and it did not send an email notification to them, what could have happened?
A: The admin tagged will need to have "Internal Comments" activity updates turned on. If they do not, they can still receive in-app notifications.
Q: I tagged myself and did not receive a Slack notification. Why not?
A: If you tag yourself, you will not receive a notification.
Q: Can I still reply to a specific message to create a thread?
A: In our previous iteration of internal comments, we had the ability to create threads on an internal comment. In our update, we removed this feature for now as we transitioned to a more chat-like style. If this feature is important to you, please add your vote to this idea here.
