You're trying to search for an idea, and you feel like it's not returning results you're expecting? The search on the Web Portal differs from the search on the Admin Console. Use this article to reference the differences in functionality.
Words UserVoice Discovery Won't Search
How Search on the Idea Grid Works
Similar to the functionality in the web portal, the search function will also search the title and description of current and merged ideas.
For our results, we prioritize various attributes of the idea content rather than a true "best text match". The results will prioritize various things like recency of votes and number of votes. Or matches in the title count more than matches in the description, and exact matches count for more than partial matches.
We recommend narrowing down your search and using filters and search operators to find the specific ideas you are looking for.
Note that the idea grid does not take Stop Words into account.
How Search Works on the Web Portal
When searching for ideas, the search function will search the title and description for any of the words you've entered. Comments are not searchable.
It will return ideas based on the number of times each of the words appears, giving more weight to words in the title.
For example, if you search "add more search options," it will return an idea or article that has "search" OR "option" in it, giving more weight to ones with those words in the title.
